Romulus Powertrain currently employs 1,339 people. The produces V6 engines used in several GM cars, trucks and crossovers. The plant is also in the process of ramping up for an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission, to be used in multiple GM products, including in the current 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The plant originally opened in the 1970’s as part of GM Detroit Diesel Allison Division making diesel engines and components. The plant began to produce engines in the 1980’s, and through the years, has produced over 10.8 million V8 engines and over 6.6 million V6 engines. Historically, the plant has a long-standing reputation of quality, productivity and performance.
